Cooper Tire settles case filed by Farrar & Ball on behalf of two clients who lost their mother in an accident caused by the failure of a Cooper tire. On April 14, 2007, Ms. Cardenas Clark was traveling in her Ford Taurus when the right rear tire suffered a catastrophic tread separation. The loss of tread caused Ms. Cardenas Clark to lose control of her vehicle, after which it rolled over, killing her at the scene. Farrar & Ball filed suit against Cooper Tire on behalf of Ms. Cardenas Clark’s surviving children in Pima County, Arizona.
During the pendency of the case, Farrar & Ball successfully compelled the production of thousands of pages of internal Cooper Tire documents. With the benefit of these documents, Farrar & Ball were able to prove the tire was defectively manufactured and designed. The case was settled prior to trial for a confidential amount.
